Save to pattern#
Since Bacularis version 5.1.0
there is possible to save the Bacula component
configuration to patterns and configs.
Purpose#
The save to pattern feature is designed to ease the Bacula component configuration process. This function can be especially useful in environments where there are multiple hosts with Bacula components and we want to copy some parts of configuration from one host to other Bacula hosts. For example, if some Bacula configuration resources should be the same on multiple hosts, saving this configuration to pattern and applying it on these hosts can save a lot of time and effort from manual configuration.
Use cases#
Saving to pattern can be used to:
create configs and pattern from an existing Bacula component configuration
copy the same configuration to multiple hosts with Bacula components.
create backup of the current Bacula component configuration
simpify the process of creating configs and pattens that use an existing configuration
save a “snapshot” of the Bacula configuration so that can be restored at any time
How it works?#
Bacularis administrator can select which Bacula resources should be saved to patterns. By default, all component resources are selected. When saved to pattern, the selected Bacula configuration is copied to configs (each resource in separated config) and all the configs are assigned to a new pattern.
Applying these patterns is the same as applying patterns created manually on the Patterns
page. In both cases, this is done in the Apply patterns
window on the Bacula component
configuration page.
