Install Bacula#
If you do not have Bacula installed yet, you can use Bacularis to install it. This function is available directly in the Bacularis installation wizard.

How to do it?#
After successful installing Bacularis files and starting the web server, in the web browser please go to the address:
http://yourhost:9097
Please log in with the default credentials:
user: admin
password: admin
You should be able to see the Bacularis installation wizard.
Step 1 - General#
On the first step of this wizard on the question: Do you have Bacula installed
on this host? please answer No
.
In the question about the operating system, please select your system.
In the system admin login and system admin password fields please type your system administrator credentials. Bacularis does not remember the admin user credentials here and anywhere else. The credietials are used “on the fly” only in the moment of using them.
If you use sudo
in your operating system, please check the sudo option. This
is for a case if you want to use non-root admin user.
Since version 4.6.0
there is also available the test credentials button, that
enables to test the username and password before starting the installation process.
Start the installation by clicking the Install Bacula
button.
After successful installing Bacula and going to the next wizard step, you will be
directed to Step 5 with skipping steps 2-4
. This happens because during
installing Bacula, the settings in step 2
, 3
, 4
have been already done
automatically in the background.
Step 5 - Authentication#
In the administration login and administration password fields please fill your user name and user password that you want to use for the Bacularis admin user.
Step 6 - Summary#
Please review the summary and if everything is correct, please and finalize the wizard.
Bacula and Bacularis are configured and ready to use.
Important notes#
There will be installed the complete Bacula environment with Bacula Director, Bacula Storage, Bacula Client, PostgreSQL database server and Bacula Console.
Bacularis will be automatically configured to use the Bacula environment, so after finishing the wizard you will be able to use it with Bacula without any additional configuration steps.
If you use the RPM-based system, you must to know that in version 4.0.0
is a bug
in the installing Bacula function that happens if SELinux is enabled and it makes
installation impossible to do. It has been fixed in 4.1.0
. To be able use
installation with version 4.0.0
on the RPM-based system with SELinux enabled,
you can disable SELinux on the installing Bacula time and enable it back just after.
Alternatively, to fix it, you can upgrade Bacularis to latest version.
Bacularis installation wizard installs Bacula using the binary packages from the system repositories. It means that if for example you use Debian, the Bacula will be installed from the Debian system repository.
The installation process in the Bacularis install wizard can be repeated. The installation
process is prepared in the way that enables retrying installation if from any reason
the installation fails. In this case please read the Raw output
tab in the installation
window to see if there is anything to fix from your side (ex. unsufficient user privileges,
missing sudo option…etc.).
