Organizations#

What is organization#

An organization in Bacularis is a named group of users. It serves as a logical grouping that usually mirrors real-world user divisions, such as:

  • company employees

  • department members

  • customer groups

  • teams

  • users categorized by criteria (age, country, region, etc.)

  • other custom groupings

This feature was introduced in Bacularis version 5.4.0.

Purpose#

There are at least five main use cases for organizations:

  • Group users logically, making user management easier—especially at scale (e.g. managing 10,000+ users).

  • Use an identity provider (IdP). IdPs are available only via organizations.

  • Enable user federations. Multiple organizations can exist in different domains, each using its own IdP for authentication.

  • Support Single Sign-On (SSO). If the IdP allows it, SSO can be used by users within an organization.

  • Enable social logins. Login via social accounts (e.g. Google, Facebook) is possible through organizations.

When to use#

Organizations enable advanced integration of Bacularis with existing corporate identity and access management (IAM) systems. Centralized user databases simplify user management for administrators.

It also benefits users, who only need to remember a single login and password for access across all company services.

If you’re managing a large user base, grouping them into organizations is a natural and scalable solution.

How to create it#

Organizations can be created on the Security page under the Organizations tab. Use the button provided to add a new organization.
