Read what happened, what's happening, and what's planned in the new project report.

Hello everyone! How are you doing? We hope you are all well and that the new year has started positively for you. If you are wondering what has been happening in the Bacularis project, you are in the right place. We invite you to read the latest project report.

What has happened

After the successful scheduled release of version 5.10.0, we spent the following days of January adapting the Bacularis user panel to upcoming new Polish regulations related to invoicing. This took quite a bit of time, but fortunately we managed to bring this work almost to completion. At this point, we want to focus exclusively on development work within Bacularis itself.

New release

After completing the changes to the user panel, we started preparing updates for a new Bacularis release. This version will be numbered 5.11.0 and will include numerous interface improvements (including the dashboard), new features on the volume list page, and several other changes that make working with the interface easier. We are planning to release it in the first half of February.

Website

In recent days, we have introduced several improvements to the Bacularis.app website. We hope that the new menu and a few additional subpages will make it easier to navigate for both completely new users and those who already know Bacularis and its website. Any feedback is very welcome.

Community involvement

We encourage everyone to get involved in the life of the Bacularis project. There are many ways to do so:

  • bug reports – if you see something that does not work, do not stay passive, let us know.
  • feature requests – do you have a great idea for a new feature? Do not let it be forgotten.
  • testimonial – if you have successfully deployed Bacularis in a Bacula environment, share your story with others by writing a recommendation.
  • code contributions – if you have made changes to the Bacularis code, you can support the project by sharing a patch.
  • interface translations – become a Bacularis interface translator if it is not available in your language.
  • video guides – if you find our video tutorials valuable, leave a like on our channel.
  • social media posts – if they help you, feel free to comment on and share them with others.

We would like to thank everyone who has already contributed. It is a huge help. We warmly encourage others who would like to get involved to do so.

Project support

Bacularis is maintained thanks to the financial support of the community. The only source of funding is the offering of additional services, such as subscription packages and technical support. If you like what we are doing with Bacularis, we encourage you to use these services. This will provide the resources needed for further development of the interface. Next major release

We would very much like to plan and release a new major version numbered 6.0.0. We know that many of you are waiting for it in order to upgrade from your current 5.0.0 packages. Version 6.0.0 will be released as soon as possible once we secure sufficient funds to ensure continued Bacularis development for the coming months. Ideally, we would like it to be the next release after version 5.11.0. We will keep you informed once we determine the release date for version 6.0.0.

This brings us to the end of the report. Thank you for being here with us. We wish you a great February and look forward to talking to you again in the next project report.

On behalf of the Bacularis Team
