April is always an exciting month for many Linux users and system administrators. This is when both the Ubuntu and Fedora teams prepare and release new versions of their distributions.
For Ubuntu users, the upcoming release – 26.04 "Resolute Raccoon" – is especially important, as it is a Long-Term Support (LTS) release. According to the Ubuntu team, the official release date is scheduled for April 23, 2026 (source: [LINK]).
Fedora, on the other hand, is moving even faster – the Fedora 44 release is planned for April 14, 2026, which is just around the corner (source: [LINK]).
As the Bacularis team, we're cheering on both distributions and would like to thank their contributors for the great work they continue to deliver.
We're also happy to announce that Bacularis is ready for both of these releases. As of today, we have built binary packages for Ubuntu 26.04 Resolute Raccoon and Fedora 44. These packages are now available in all official Bacularis repositories and provide the current version Bacularis 6.0.0. We have also performed a series of tests on these packages across the respective distributions to ensure stability and compatibility.
In the upcoming release Bacularis 6.1.0, we will introduce dedicated OS profiles for these new distribution versions. We have also updated the Bacularis SELinux policy module for Fedora 44.
