Read the Bacularis report describing the current status of the project and plans for the near future.

Hello Everybody,

This is our first report on what’s currently happening and what’s coming soon in the Bacularis project. We plan to publish such reports from time to time to keep you informed about changes and new developments in Bacularis.

Release Cycle

Yesterday, we successfully released the new version 5.5.0. We plan to maintain an approximately monthly release cycle. This may vary depending on whether we release a minor bugfix version between regular versions to stabilize the previous release.

A monthly release schedule means that changes may be smaller, but they will be delivered more frequently and consistently. This is the direction we want to follow—to provide users with new features more often, rather than one large update less frequently.

What’s New

We’ve launched a new testimonial program. Through it, any Bacularis user can support the project by sharing a short story about how using Bacularis has impacted their work and backup environment.

Once we receive the first recommendations, we’ll launch a new page on bacularis.app where we’ll publish them. More information about this can be found in the post here:

https://bacularis.app/community/write-testimonial

We warmly encourage you to share your Bacularis use case with us.

What’s Coming Next

The next major feature we’re planning is a plugin for backing up PostgreSQL databases. The feature request for such a plugin was submitted by @michaeldolzani, a member of our Bacularis community, in the Bacularis user group:

https://group.bacularis.app/d/52-feature-request-postgresql-backup-plugin

Work on this plugin will begin very soon. In parallel to working on the plugin, we will be developing existing Bacularis features.

Enjoy using Bacularis!

On behalf of the Bacularis Team,
Marcin Haba (gani)
